New Tech Structure Receives Sustainability Honor

San Bernardino Valley University’s Technical Education and learning Structure was identified for excellence in sustainable layout with a 2023 United State Green Structure Council Los Angeles (USGBC-LA) Sustainable Technology Award for Merit in the Wellness and Well-being group. The honor existed at USGBC-LA’s annual Eco-friendly Gala and Lasting Innovation Honors on December 7, 2023 in Hollywood, California.

The 102, 000 SF, all-electric Technical Education Structure is created to progress the abilities of SBVC’s automotive, electrical, maker technology, home heating, air flow, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R), and water innovation programs. It will work as an important campus resource for pupils making improvements in electrical cars, photovoltaics, robotics, and rapid prototyping.

Visual links in between educational spaces throughout the structure influence, inform, and attach pupils and teachers. “Sticky” spaces supply opportunities for collaboration and ideas within and across departments. The building is developed to be a Net Zero-ready living laboratory that will offer display space for vehicle modern technology and function advancements in regenerative style, such as solar glass and 5 solar thermal smokeshafts to aid passively heat and cool the building’s high-bay labs.

The San Bernardino Area University Area and SBVC worked together very closely with the HMC Architects layout group to produce the innovative room, which is set to open in December 2024
